How to reflash your VGA BIOS?
  1. Extract the downloaded Zip file to your hard disk(s) or floppy disk. This procedure assumes drive A.

  2. Restart your PC in MS-DOS mode. (This function only for Windows 95 or Windows 98. If your OS is Windows XP / Me / 2000, please use the bootable disk to restart your computer in MS-DOS mode.)

  3. Change the command prompt to the file location A:\>.

  4. To flash BIOS, at the A:\> prompt, type [BIOS flash utility name] -p [BIOS file name] (example: gvf18 -p x79g8dpr.f10; example for ATi: gvf19 -p rx165p6dr.f11) and press Enter.

  5. Wait until it's done, then restart your PC.

How to back up the current BIOS?

  1. To back up the current BIOS, at the A:\> prompt, type [BIOS flash utility name] -s [BIOS file name] (example for nVIDIA: gvf18 -s x79g8dpr.f10; example for ATi: gvf19 -s rx165p6dr.f11) and press Enter.

How to recognize your VBIOS version?
  1. To recognize your VBIOS version, at the A:\> prompt, type [BIOS flash utility name] -v (example: gvf1a -v) and press Enter, and then you can get the information.

Why won't my VGA card update to the latest version BIOS?

  1. GIGABYTE's graphics cards have different BIOS versions for one model. For example, VGA BIOS version F1 to F9 will be one series and BIOS version F10 to F19 will be the other series. So in theory, if your VGA card's current BIOS version is F3, and you see version F4/F10 available on the website, your VGA card will need to be updated to F4 and not F10.
